Melanie Fahey is
an a senior associate with Sommers & Assoc. specializing in
media relations, community relations, and government affairs
with an emphasis on the energy industry.
Previously, she
was a senior account executive for Hill and Knowlton,
responsible for news releases, community relations, marketing
communications, media training and crisis drills for clients
including Randalls Food Markets, The Houston Marathon, Calpine
Corporation, and ExxonMobil. Earlier, she served as manager of
advertising and public affairs for the Coastal Corporation
where she was responsible for production and placement of print
and broadcast advertising for Coastal’s retail outlets and for
community and public relations for the Gulfstream Natural Gas
System. Prior to that she served as the company’s political
action committee administrator with responsibility for all
federal and state filings for the company’s three political
action committees as well as a quarterly newsletter, conducting
solicitation drives and planning events.
Fahey’s public
relations career began in government affairs as a legislative
assistant at Panhandle Eastern Corporation where she was
responsible for monitoring legislation and analysis to
determine corporate impact for direction in the company’s
lobbying efforts. She later planned events and handled media
relations for the Mike Martin for Texas Senate
Campaign.
Fahey received a
B.A. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin and a
M.B.A. from the University of Houston.
